DNA Shoah Project at the Arizona  Research Laboratories

The central mission of the DNA Shoah Project is to build a DNA database for all victims of the Holocaust and their families.  This database will help reconnect relatives, locate next of kin and confirm the final resting place for victims whose bones may still be discovered in Europe.  DNA is gathered via a gentle cheek swab, either at home or during group collections organized through local Jewish and other community organizations. After collection, the DNA will be extracted and analyzed using the same matching software used by the City of New York to identify victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
