The Jewish community of this small town in the upper Hron River valley proudly belonged to the Neolog movement as demonstrated by the elegant tower on their synagogue located on the junction of two side streets in the city center. Its tri-partite front dominated by the octagonal tower with onion shaped copper roof placed in the axis of the façade gives way to a traditional interior arrangement" the stairways to the women's gallery in the western rear. The sanctuary's three-nave hall with the women's gallery supported by cast-iron columns has the original aron hakodesh in a semi-circular apse.  photos. [Sep 2014]
