The “IAJGS Salute! Committee” is pleased to announce that Rosemary Eshel has been awarded an IAJGS Salute! Award. IAJGS Salutes are designed to provide recognition on an ongoing basis of noteworthy projects, activities and accomplishments relating to Jewish genealogy at any time during the year in addition to the annual IAJGS achievement awards.
Rosemary has volunteered endless hours as a volunteer with the Israel Genealogy Research Association (IGRA). Since the founding/reorganization of IGRA in 2012, Rosemary has handled all the requests for research assistance that come though the IGRA website. We believe this to be well over 3,000 requests. Some of the answers may be simple while others are quite complex. Rosemary treats each one with the same thoroughness and responds in a timely fashion, sometimes taking hours to research and locate the best way to guide the person and help them find the information they are seeking.
In addition, Rosemary has served on the IGRA Executive Committee and continues to serve on the IGRA Board. Rosemary has extensive knowledge of Jewish genealogy resources in North Africa, Italy and England.
Rosemary is part of the IGRA team that meets with people who have turned to the Genealogy Center at the National Library in Jerusalem, interested in researching their roots. These individuals are scheduled for a one hour session and meet with a genealogist together with a reference librarian. Rosemary prepares extensively for these meetings and documents each session.
For her dedication and unique contribution, the IAJGS is happy to recognize Rosemary Eshel’s efforts with an IAJGS Salute! Award.
