Gerhard BUCK

Gerhard Buck was born in northwest Germany in 1936. He studied history, English, political and social sciences and taught these subjects at a Gymnasium in Wiesbaden and in Idstein, where he now lives. Since 1974, he has been an active researcher of the history of this region. On the basis of archival material he has published numerous books and articles on diverse subjects. For a long time, he has specialized in Jewish history in the territories of the former Duchy of Nassau. Research work in different archives led to publications on Jewish families and communities. He was elected member of the Historische Kommission für Nassau and the Kommission für die Geschichte der Juden in Hessen. He received the Obermayer German Jewish History Award.
