For ten years, Jewish-Alsatian and Jewish-Lorrain genealogy has made significant advances. While the 1980-90 had been marked by the renewal of our knowledge of the genealogy of the Jewish families of the 18th century, the 2000s saw the inclusion of the 17th century in the field of genealogical research. This breakthrough was made possible by the exploitation of sources still little explored, such as the notarial archives, legal and tax archives, Mohelbucher or burial entries, updated thanks to patient restoration work. Studies locations helped to go back to the 17th century, sometimes even of the 16th, the reconstitution of families and the establishment of the genealogies, whether for Metz, through the remarkable work of Pascal Faustini, for other Lorraine locations or Alsatian communities, including the works of Denis Ingold.
