Methodology

Come to this program if you’ve ever found yourself following false trails or continuing a search that leads nowhere. Jeff Miller has gone down a false trail, or has been tempted to go down false trails, or pursued research that thus far has been fruitless, for various reasons. He will share stories and strategies for getting back on track. Jeff will provide examples of “official” documents in error, on JewishGen, in the census, or from archives and other institutions.

Have you ever taken stories told by relatives at their face value only to learn that you were following a false trail? Trusting Research of Others:  Have you been provided trees of others believing them to be related to your family? Have you read published work and not verified its accuracy?
