Since the re-admission of Jews to England in 1656 the Jewish community expanded rapidly. However tracing the arrival of Jewish aliens into British ports is a difficult process. This illustrated talk explores the process of migration to, through and from Britain between 1793 and 1924 to explain how Jewish genealogists can utilise digitised passenger and maritime records to explore their migrant ancestry. Including previously unseen film footage of migration through London during the interwar period it aims to assist those with British Jewish ancestry in finding relevant genealogical information. It also explains to those with North American and South African ancestry how their ancestors transmigrated through Britain during the era of the Great Migration.
