About the Conference

When

The conference will run from Sunday morning July 27, 2014, through noon on Friday August 1, 2014. You can pick up your badge and conference materials starting Saturday evening, July 26, 2014.

Where

The conference will be held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center255 W Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. For more information about the hotel and the special room rates for conference attendees, and to reserve a room, see Hotel Reservations.

Participate in Person, Online via IAJGS LIVE! or Both

We expect to offer about 180 programs with about 50 broadcast live on the Internet with our IAJGS Live! program, which is available for three months after the conference.

Registration

Registration for the conference is now open! You will be able to register to attend the conference, for IAJGS Live!, or both.

Submitting a Paper

The call for papers is now open! Speaker proposals will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Friday, January 31, 2014 PST.

Focus Areas

As the conference will open one day shy of the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I (in Europe), the conference will have presentations, displays and other activities commemorating the War's impacts on our ancestors.

Other focus areas will include 

  • Technology in the Pursuit of Genealogy 
  • Jewish Migrations over the Ages
  • Ethical Genealogical Challenges and 
  • Jews (and crypto-Jews) of the Western United States
Of course, there will be a wide range of presentations and workshops covering various geographic areas, research techniques and areas of common interest to those researching their Jewish roots as well as those interested in Eastern Europe and World War I.
