The International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS), on behalf of its member societies around the world, expresses great sorrow to learn of the death of Stanley Diamond.
As the founder and leader of JRI-Poland, Stanley was a trailblazer in the Jewish genealogy community and continued, until his death, to inspire researchers to join the team of JRI-Poland volunteers. Stanley was a Jewish genealogy star whose presentations about new initiatives at JRI-Poland were frequently the best-attended sessions at IAJGS conferences.
As many in our community have stated, JRI-Poland has become the indispensable resource for researching Jewish ancestry in Poland.
Stanley was the founder and long-time President of the JGS of Montreal. He served as a member of the founding committee of the International Institute for Jewish Genealogy (IIJG) and, most recently, was a co-founder of the Documentation of Jewish Records Worldwide (DOJR) project, developed under the auspices of IAJGS and now part of a new IAJGS member organization, the L'Dor V'Dor Foundation.
We extend sincere condolences to Stanley's family, and to his many dear colleagues and friends in the Jewish genealogy community.
